School Age Childcare

The YMCA offers before and after school child care for children ages 5-12 with EEC certified staff.  It includes indoor/outdoor sports, arts and crafts, indoor/outdoor games, swimming and other activities that incorporate the YMCA’s core values of Honesty, Respect, Caring and Responsibility. We offer homework time, with staff to assist and resources to use such as books and utensils. We provide each child with an afternoon snack. Activities may vary by site.  We currently have sites located in Lowell and Dracut.

Before and After School Care
The YMCA will offer before and after school care for in person learning students attending Lowell or Dracut Public Schools. Before School care is 7:00 AM – 9:00 AM and After School care is 2:00 PM-6:00 PM.

*Lowell Public Schools will only provide bus transportation to and from the Greater Lowell YMCA for students attending the following schools: Bartlett, Butler, Collegiate Charter, Greenhalge, LCCPS,  McAvinnue, McAuliffe, Moody, Pyne Arts, Reilly, Robinson, Shaughnessy, STEM, Sullivan, and Washington. If your child does not attend one of these schools they may still enroll in our After School program but parents will be responsible for getting them to the Greater Lowell YMCA at the end of their school day.

Englesby School- Before and After School Care
Greenmont School- Before and After School Care
Campbell School- Before and After School Care
Brookside School- Before and After School Care

*We are not accepting registrations for students at Richardson Middle School in Dracut, MA.

FAQ’S

Is this an EEC licensed program? 
Yes. Our After School programs are EEC licensed.

What time does care begin in the morning?
Children can be dropped off beginning at 7:00AM

What is the latest time that I can pick up my child after school? 
Children must be picked up by 6:00PM

Will there be homework help available? 
Yes. Staff will ask the children if they have homework and encourage them to complete the work before engaging in recreational activities.

Does the YMCA accept state vouchers? 
Yes.  Please contact the YMCA for an intake form.

Does the YMCA offer financial aid?
Yes. Financial Aid is available to families in need.

How do I enroll my child?
You will need to contact the After School Program Director for availability. They will then provide you with a registration form to be filled out for each child you would like to participate. The registration form along with any medical forms will need to be returned with any applicable fees before a child can start the program.

Is care offered for school vacations and holidays? 
Yes. Care is available in Dracut at the Brookside School site and in Lowell at the YMCA site.

Is care offered for 1/2 days?
Yes. Care is offered at the school that the child is registered.
